Puerto Vallarta's airport (PVR) sits north of the city, near the Marina. Getting to Zona Romántica at the southern end takes roughly 20–30 minutes depending on traffic. Here's how to do it without overpaying or getting caught by the timeshare pitch.

The Uber catch
Uber operates in Puerto Vallarta and is usually the cheapest option, but there's historically been friction with the taxi unions at the airport. Many travellers walk a short distance off the airport property (for example over the pedestrian bridge) to meet their Uber, then use it freely for the rest of the trip. More detail in getting around.
The trap to avoid
Anyone inside the terminal offering a "free ride", "welcome drink" or "information" is almost certainly a timeshare tout, not transport. Smile, say no, and head for the official taxi booth or the exit.
