Puerto Vallarta Art Walk
Every Wednesday evening from late October to late May, downtown's galleries open their doors. Here's the route, the galleries and the other art nights around the bay.
On Wednesday evenings in the high season, the galleries of Puerto Vallarta's historic centre stay open late for the Vallarta Art Walk. You wander between them with a map, meet some of the artists, and at some galleries get a glass of wine. It's free to walk in, it has run since the mid-1990s, and it's one of the easiest good evenings in town — especially as it ends on the Malecón, among the city's open-air sculptures.

A short history
The Art Walk began in the mid-1990s as a handful of galleries that printed a shared guide to draw visitors into the centre. Out and About PV dates it to 1995 and credits a long-time resident, Barbara Peters, with starting it with five galleries; the organisers' own site says "since 1996". Today it's run by the participating galleries themselves, and for 2026–27 they mark a 30th anniversary.
What to expect
- Meet the artists: you can meet some of the artists on the night, and see work from painting and sculpture to folk art and ceramics.
- A glass of wine or a cocktail at some galleries — not all.
- Commercial galleries: the art is for sale, and most galleries keep regular hours through the week if you want to come back.
- Cobblestones: the streets of the centre are uneven and some climb; wear comfortable shoes.
The galleries
These are the galleries on the organisers' official list for 2026–27. The printed 2026 map has 15 galleries, including RIOS Art Gallery and Art|Work Puerto Vallarta, and numbers them differently, so pick up the current map on the night.

How to do the route
- There's no official start. A common approach is to begin at the northern end, around Barcelona Tapas on Matamoros, and work south towards the river.
- The galleries cluster around Guadalupe Sánchez and Leona Vicario, and around Corona and Morelos. Allow a couple of hours.
- Finish on the Malecón and its sculptures, or cross the river by Isla Cuale into Zona Romántica for dinner.
- Getting there: it's a 10–20 minute walk from Old Town along the Malecón. If you drive, the official map marks parking at both ends of the Malecón; otherwise take a taxi or Uber to the main square (Uber and taxis).
- Some galleries serve drinks late: UNFINISHED on Mina has a bar and rooftop terraces; its Libertad space is air-conditioned.
The Malecón's sculptures
The seafront promenade holds around twenty sculptures, a free open-air gallery any day of the week. Among them are Rafael Zamarripa's Boy on the Seahorse, Alejandro Colunga's La Rotonda del Mar, a circle of bronze chair sculptures, and Sergio Bustamante's In Search of Reason. The Art Walk map marks fourteen of them. More in the Malecón.
The weekly art calendar
The Art Walk isn't the only art night. In the 2025–26 season the bay had something most days of the week from November to April; dates for 2026–27 will be confirmed by each organiser.

| Thursday | Bucerías Art Walk | Nearly twenty galleries from Art Walk Plaza, Lázaro Cárdenas 60a, about 6–9 p.m., November to April |
