Puerto Vallarta in November
The dry season returns, the sea is still warm, and the month opens with the Day of the Dead.
November is when Puerto Vallarta comes out of the rainy season. Rain falls on about one day in the month, the humidity eases, and the sea is still warm from the summer. The high season hasn't fully started, so the first half of the month is good value — and the calendar is full, from the Day of the Dead to the Festival Gourmet.

Weather in November
Days are hot and mostly sunny, around 30 °C, and nights cool to about 21 °C — noticeably fresher than October. November averages about 20 mm of rain, usually on a single day, so the afternoon storms of the summer are mostly over. The Eastern Pacific hurricane season officially runs until 30 November; October 2026 brought Hurricane Simon, a reminder to buy travel insurance that covers storms if you book early in the month. Month-by-month figures are in our weather guide.
The sea, beaches and wildlife
At about 28 °C, the sea is still warm enough for long swims, and from November the water clears as the rains stop: November to April is the best season for snorkelling and diving. Humpback whales haven't arrived yet — the whale-watching season opens on 8 December — but the sea-turtle nesting season runs to the end of the year, and camps release hatchlings at sunset; see sea-turtle releases. Check the beach flags, especially after any late storm.

Crowds and prices
Prices and crowds climb through the month, from the good-value weeks after the rains to the busier second half. The Revolution Day long weekend brings Mexican visitors, and US Thanksgiving, on 26 November, many Americans. Booking for early November gets the best of the new dry season at lower rates; see best time to visit and what a trip costs.
Sunrise and sunset
Puerto Vallarta keeps UTC−6 all year (see time zone), so these are the times on the clock. The bay faces west: the sun sets over the water, best watched from the Malecón.
